Materials

Chair or crate to stand on

Three hula hoops

Scarves

Instructions

1. Place the chair or crate in the center of the room.

2. Position each of the three hoops approximately 1' (30 cm) from the chair, place one hoop in front of the chair and one on each side of the chair.

3. Choose one child to be the pilot and ten children to jump from the chair or crate with parachutes. The rest will sing the song.

4. Have the children with "parachutes" form a line and jump in turn from the chair into one of the hoops. The child can use a scarf to simulate a parachute. Give each child a chance to jump.

5. Sing the following song to the tune of "There Were Ten in the Bed."There were ten in a plane and the pilot said,"Bail out, bail out!"They checked their chutes and one jumped out.Now there were nine in the plane and the pilot said . . . (Repeat until the last child jumps)Now there were none in the plane and the pilot said,"Good job, well done!"They gathered their chutes and all walked home."Good bye, Good bye!"
