Props from the story, such as an umbrella, a fur hat, a stuffed animal with horns,

a stuffed animal cat, and a blanket

Instructions

1. Cut the following shapes from felt: a blue whale, red crab, pink shrimp,
yellow starfish, white shark, gray dolphin, black eel, purple jellyfish, and a
person wearing a green swimsuit (beachcomber).
2. At circle time, introduce the shapes as you hand one to each child.
3. Explain that you will tell them a story and when they hear their shape named,
they can bring it up and put it on the flannel board.
4. Tell the following story:
Blue whale, blue whale, what do you see?
I see a white shark looking at me.
White shark, white shark, what do you see?
I see a gray dolphin looking at me.
Grey dolphin, gray dolphin, what do you see?
I see a black eel looking at me.
Black eel, black eel, what do you see?
I see a red crab looking at me.
Red crab, red crab, what do you see?
I see a pink shrimp looking at me.
Pink shrimp, pink shrimp, what do you see?
I see a yellow starfish looking at me.
Yellow starfish, yellow starfish, what do you see?
I see a purple jellyfish looking at me.
Purple jellyfish, purple jellyfish, what do you see?
I see a green beachcomber looking at me.
Green beachcomber, green beachcomber, what do you see?
I see a lively ocean looking back at me.
