Instructions

* Cut out or draw pictures of several different animals. Then, cut across the
center of each one to separate the legs from the bodies.
What to Do
1. Hold up the top half of one animal. Then pair it with the legs of a different
animal.
2. Ask the children if you've chosen the right legs.
3. Continue to try out different legs until the children agree that you have the
right ones.
4. Then move on to a different animal. Keep going until all of the matches have
been made.
5. Hold up the bottom half of an animal. Then ask one of the children to bring
you the top half. Repeat until everyone has had a turn.
6. Show the children a matching top and bottom half. Then ask how they know
that the two match.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* Can the children put the correct halves of animals together?
* Can the children identify the animals by name?
