Instructions

What to do 1. Put a clear, plastic jar in a prominent spot in the classroom. Explain to the
children that when they arrive each day, they may put pennies into the jar in
order to save for a classroom celebration activity.
2. Each time a child adds a penny, draw a line on a piece of paper. This helps
them learn to count using one-to-one correspondence.
3. The children will observe the quantity increasing over time, both in the jar
and on the paper.
4. At the end of the month, count the pennies (and the marks on the paper)
together. Use the pennies to have a special popcorn party!
