Materials

Circle stickers or any other type of stickers, perhaps based on your theme or

season of the year (1" or less in diameter)

Chart paper with 1" squares

Instructions

1. Cut up raw vegetables and place them on a tray.
2. Sing "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" with the children.
3. Discuss with the children what else they might find on a farm besides
animals. Prompt them, if necessary, to say vegetables or food.
4. Ask each child to name a vegetable and say one thing about it.
5. Incorporate this information into a new version of the song. For example:
Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O,
And on that farm he had some carrots, E-I-E-I-O,
With an orange carrot here, and an orange carrot there,
Here a carrot, there a carrot, everywhere an orange carrot, E-I-E-I-O.
6. Continue making up new verses, using "crunchy carrot," "leafy lettuce," "juicy
tomato," "smelly onion," and so on.
