Instructions

What to do
1. Have the children trace a star stencil on paper, then help them cut the star out.
2. Invite the children to decorate their star with the glitter glue. Alternatively, have the children do
a yellow watercolor wash on the star and, while it is still wet, sprinkle salt over the paint.
3. Encourage the children to name their star as a scientist often does.
4. Let the stars dry overnight.
5. When they are dry, suspend them from the ceiling with string.
More to do
Field trip: Visit a planetarium or observatory.
Language: Share myths and legends about the stars and encourage the children to compose
their own stories. Write down their stories and attach them to the back of their Spectacular Stars.
Teach the poem "Star Light, Star Bright" and ask the children to think of a wish they would make
on a star.
