1. Set up a veterinarian office in the housekeeping area. Write "Vet's Office" on a piece of cardboard to make a sign for the area. Let children decorate the area with pictures of animals from magazines. 2. Put out several boxes or crates as beds for the sick or injured animals. Use a small table for the examining table. 3. Ask the children to bring in their "sick or injured pets" (stuffed animals) from home or use stuffed animals in the classroom. 4. Encourage the children to pretend to be vets and check the animals using tools such as stethoscopes and tongue depressors. Provide bandages for them to wrap "injured" legs, tails, paws, and so on. 5. Children can let their pets rest on the beds or in the crates. 6. Encourage children to care for the pets by "feeding" them and "walking" them.
