Materials

fake fur material, with fur at least 1 1/2" long

felt scraps

2 large plastic wiggle eyes per child

fabric glue

child-safe scissors

ruler

short-napped carpet piece

Instructions

1. Read the children from a book
about penguins (see list for
suggestions), and share some facts
about penguins with the children.
2. Let the children draw pictures
about penguins.
3. Teach the children to do a penguin
waddle.
4. Let the children have a penguin
parade to some lively music.
5. Pretend to be penguins and have fish
crackers for snack.
6. Consider extending the activity by encouraging
each child to make up a story about a penguin and
act out their stories for the other children.
