Materials
- thin white card
- scissors
- colored card squares, slightly bigger than snowflakes
- glue
What to do
1. This makes a good matching, sorting, and memory game for older preschoolers. Fold a piece of paper to make two sheets. Cut out a snowflake shape, making sure to cut through both pieces of paper so you have two identical snowflakes.
2. Cut out a few more pairs of snowflakes, making each pair slightly different from the last.
3. Glue the snowflakes to colored card squares.
4. Ask the children to sort the snowflakes into exact pairs, and encourage them to talk about the parts that are similar and different.
5. Play memory games with the snowflake cards. Let the children take turns turning over two cards to try and make a pair. If the two cards do not match, turn them back over. If they do match, the child keeps them. Continue until all the cards are matched.
