Materials

11" x 17" colored paper

crayons

decorating items (glitter, small shapes, and glue)

laminating machine (adult only)

Instructions

1. Use a sewing machine to attach fabric squares to the baby blanket.
Make sure to stitch everything well as this blanket will be handled by
infants.
2. Place the blanket on the floor where infants can feel it or crawl across it.
3. Let the babies explore the blanket independently. They will be intrigued
by the varying textures.
4. Sit near the babies as they crawl on and touch the blanket. Comment
on what they are feeling: "Oh, the satin is so soft, isn't it?" "The corduroy
is scratchy. It feels bumpy too." "Feel this furry part."
5. Wash the blanket frequently.
