Materials
Photographs of activities or wipe-off markers
Laminated piece of heavy cardboard, approximately 24" x 24" (60 cm x 60 cm)
Children's nameplates with Velcro on back
Instructions
1. Sing a song with the children that they already know. Then, look through old
magazines with the children to find a picture that reminds everyone of the
song. For instance, select a picture of a big red barn or farm scene for "Old
MacDonald Had a Farm."
2. Glue the picture on a piece of paper and write the name of the song below it.
3. Cover it with clear contact paper, laminate it, or put it into a plastic sleeve.
4. Punch three holes along the side and put it in a three-ring binder.
5. Whenever the children learn a new song that they enjoy singing, find a picture
of it and add it to the book.
6. Put the book at the music table or on a shelf where the children can reach it.
At music time, the children can take turns looking in the book and selecting
songs to sing.

This activity also works well for fingerplays, poems, and short repetitive stories.
