Instructions

1. Add a touch of winter to your classroom by bringing sleds that don't have runners on them to school. You can do this any time of the year even summer!2. Encourage the children to pretend they are outside playing in the snow. Provide scarves, hats, boots, and mittens to add a real touch of winter to their dramatic play.3. The children can take turns pulling one another on the sleds around the classroom, hallway, or gym. They can also place dolls or stuffed animals on the sleds.MORE TO DO: Bring winter ice-skating into your classroom, too! Help the children cover their shoes with wax paper and secure it with masking tape. Pull the wax paper up high around the child's ankles for best results. (You can also try small plasticbags.) Encourage the children to wear hats and scarves as they skate. Play winter-type music or waltzes (such as the "Waltz of the Snowflakes" from the Nutcracker).
