Materials

  1. Old pairs of shoes
  2. Rickrack, pompoms, ribbon, and scraps of material
  3. Glue
  4. Paint

Instructions

  1. Ask the children to bring in an old pair of shoes from home. The shoes could belong to a parent, sibling, or the child.
  2. Put all of the shoes together and let each child pick a pair to wear in a "shoe parade!" Walk around the classroom wearing the shoes.
  3. Encourage the children to decorate their shoes using paint, rickrack, old ribbon, pompoms, and so on to make "crazy shoes." Give a prize for the craziest shoe.
  4. Help the children make a giant shoe sculpture using the shoes.
  5. Read the story "The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe" with the children.

Instructions

1. Remove labels from
cans.
2. Decoupage the labels to
pieces of wood that has
been sanded.
3. Allow them to dry, then
use them in the grocery
store center.
