Instructions

1. Take the children outdoors for a walk. Before you leave, ask them which shapethey think they will see most frequently. Write the shapes on a piece of paperto start a tally sheet.

2. Walk around the school and neighborhood, looking for shapes.

3. As the children see shapes and call them out, write them down (for example,square windows, rectangle doors, circle wheels, and so on). Be creative! Lookat nature objects to find shapes (tree rings, rocks, leaves, and so on).

4. When finished, return to the classroom and compare your results with theprediction.More to do Circle Time: Have the children sit in a triangle or rectangle instead of a circle.Call them to "Triangle Time."
