Instructions

1. Help families share a glimpse of their child's day by writing your
observations about the child each day or when the opportunity arises.
2. At a specific time of the day when the children are engaged in an
activity, take out your clipboard, mark the date and time, and begin
taking notes on what is occurring. Place yourself close enough to hear
what children are saying (if they are talking), and write what they say. If
children are infants, simply note what they are doing.
3. When time permits, transfer the notes to a spiral-bound sketch book.
Reprint the notes in large script so it is easy for families to read
together. Include photographs, if possible.
4. Place the book by the entrance to the room, with the latest scenes
displayed.
