Materials:
Shoeboxes, one per child
Paper materials with interesting textures cut in small samples, such as sandpaper, foil, tissue,
crepe paper, corrugated cardboard, wax paper, bubble wrap
Glue
Scissors
Instructions:
1. Invite children to touch the different kinds of paper and talk about how they feel the same and
how they feel different.
2. Give each child a shoebox and glue. Encourage the children to cover their shoeboxes with the
sensory materials.
3. After the samples have been glued and the glue is dry, encourage the children to feel the different
textures with their fingertips.
