Materials

10 items from a particular category, such as vehicles, foods, clothing, animals,

and so on

paper bag, shoebox, or other small enclosed object that can conceal

the objects

Instructions

1. With a group of about 4 to 5 children in a circle, display all the items you have
chosen.
2. Transfer the items to another place in the room and let the children know
where they are.
3. Let the children take turns leaving the circle and choosing one of the items.
The child places the item into the box or bag, and then returns to the group,
keeping the item in the bag a secret.
4. The rest of the children guess what is hidden. After each wrong guess, the
"secret holder" provides a clue. For example, the child might say, "No, it's not
a car. It has a propeller."
5. The children continue guessing until they figure it out. The child then returns
the item and another child has a turn.
