Materials

Cardboard scissors white construction paper markers glue 10mm wiggle eyes 1" long white or silver paper clips

Instructions

1. Make a cardboard pattern for the seal, ball, and ring (see illustration).

2. Help the children trace all the patterns on white construction paper. Ask . Let them color the ball as desired.

4. Ask them to cut out all the pieces, including the center of the ring.

5. Demonstrate how to glue two seals together at the top of the head and back of the tail.

6. Explain that seals are various colors, including tan, gray, spotted, or dark gray. Encourage them to color their seals as desired, color the nose black, draw whiskers, and glue on wiggle eyes.

7. Ask them to glue the ball behind the seal's nose.

8. Show them how to spread the two seal sides apart and add a paper clip to the back of the tail on the reverse side so the seal will stand up. Then, finish by slipping the ring over the seal's head.

9. Learn about various seals and sea lions. Locate the areas on a map or globe where they live.More to doGross Motor: Encourage the children to walk like seals with their knees together and calves and feet spread apart. Encourage them to bark like seals and point their noses upward.
