- Paper
- Copy machine
- Dice
- Crayons
What to do
1. Ahead of time, prepare a five-by-five grid with twenty-five squares on a piece of paper and make several copies.
2. When you are ready to begin, have the children roll one dice. Ask them to choose a crayon and color the correct number of squares on the grid. Repeat the process until all the squares are filled.
More to do
- Math: On a larger grid, have older children use two die and color in the sum of the two numbers. Or, have two children each use their own dice and place a bean or button on the correct number of squares until the grid is covered; count to see which player has the most beans on the grid.
- More art: Cut the squares apart and paste them onto colored paper in a design, creating a mosaic. Cut the grid into strips and use them for paper weaving.
