Materials

3" x 5" cards marker self-adhesive magnetic strips sentence strips chalkboard or board

Instructions

1. Make a name card for each child by writing the child's name on a 3" x 5" card. Attach a magnetic strip to the back of each one. Display them on a table.

2. Print a simple question on a sentence strip, and answer choices on smaller pieces of sentence strips. (Which apple do you like the best? Red, green, yellow. How do you get to school? Walk, bus, car.)3. Place the sentence strip at the top of the chalkboard or magnetic board. Make a column for each answer choice underneath the question.

4. Read the question and different choices to the children.

5. Ask them to place their name card in the column that represents their choice.

6. For variety, chart in different directions (top to bottom, left to right).

7. When discussing the results, talk about different comparison words, such as more, less, most, least, and so on.
