Plastic canvas

Scissors

Lightweight paper such as copy or computer paper

Unwrapped crayons

Instructions

1. Before class, cut plastic canvas into various shapes, numbers, and letters.

2. Invite the children to choose a piece of canvas and lay it on the table in front of them. Havethem run their fingers over its uneven surface, then lay their paper on top of it.

3. Show the children how to rub the side of their crayon back and forth across their paper, creatinga colorful image of the canvas cut-out.
