Materials

Long board 2 classroom chairs

Box or tray Yarn

Funnel Sand

Salt Paint

Large sheets of paper

Instructions

1. Outside, set the long board across two classroom chairs.

2. Place a large shallow box, such as one for under bed storage, under the board and hang the funnel from the middle of the board.

3. Fill the funnel with sand or colored salt.

4. Let the children swing the funnel and watch the designs, which are always elliptical and are named after the physicist Lissajoux. Next, you can move on to filling the funnel with paint and laying paper on the ground to make wonderful pictures!
