Materials

  1. biodegradable packing peanuts
  2. squirt bottles filled with colored water
  3. large tub or sensory table

Instructions

  1. Place biodegradable packing peanuts in a large tub or sensory table. Place squirt bottles filled with colored water nearby.
  2. Encourage the children to squirt the peanuts. When the peanuts get wet, they will dissolve slightly and stick to other peanuts.
  3. Encourage the children to make their own "peanut creations." Allow the creations to dry and display them in the room.

Instructions

1. Set up the learning center as a gas station.
2. Explain to the children that this area is the part of the gas station where cars
are fixed or repaired.
3. To demonstrate, give a child one of the smaller items and ask him to find the
matching tool. For example, give a child a nail, and he should find a hammer.
Give a child a bolt, and he might find a wrench.
4. Let the children explore and match independently.
