Materials

Oranges or grapefruits Vegetable brushes

Hand juicer Electric juicer

Cups Marker

Instructions

1. Wash the oranges with vegetable brushes.

2. Juice some with the hand juicer and some with the electric juicer.

3. Ask the children how many seeds they think are in an orange? How much juice do they predict they will get? Draw a line on a clear plastic cup and see how close the estimates are.

4. Plant the seeds.

5. Use the empty rinds to make bird feeders by filling them with birdseed and poking holes in the sides to hang them from a tree.
