Open-Ended Art Center


Various scraps, such as fabric scraps, lace scraps, paper scraps, and cork
Miscellaneous items, such as old buttons, glitter, yarn, string, ribbons,
rubberbands, and so on
Art paper
Glue or glue sticks


1. Keep a variety of scraps and miscellaneous materials in the Art Center. You can
assign specific art projects, or have open-ended art projects. Encourage the
children to cut and glue to their heart's content and let their creativity soar!
2. It's a good idea to come up with a list of rules beforehand. Explain the rules
to the children before they use the Art Center.
3. Tell them that scissors may be used for cutting scraps only not hair, each
other, and so on!
