Materials:
Yellow and black tagboard or poster board
scissors
glue stick
matching or classifying, transportation-themed game board and game pieces
laminate
self-adhesive Velcro (sticky backed)
sticky-backed storage pocket
Instructions:
1. Draw the outline of a bus (approximately 12" x 17") on a sheet of yellowtagboard or poster board. Cut it out.
2. Cut out three wheels approximately 3 1/2 " in diameter from black tagboard or
poster board.
3. Glue the wheels to the bus.
4. Select any age-appropriate transportation game board intended for use as a
file-folder game. (For example, you might use one with a grid of 1 1/2 " squares
that requires the child to classify vehicles by color and shape.)
5. Color the game pieces (vehicles) and the game board, if needed.
6. Mount the game pieces on tagboard squares (1 1/2 " x 1 1/2 ") and laminate them
for durability.
7. Attach Velcro to the back of the game pieces and the squares on the grid of
the game board.
8. Attach a sticky-backed pocket on the bus to hold the game pieces.
9. Mount the bus on the wall and encourage children to try this fun, hands-on
activity.
