My ABC Book

Materials

  1. magazines and photographs
  2. 15 pieces of card stock or scrapbook pages cut to the desired size
  3. markers
  4. glue
  5. clear contact paper or laminator
  6. hole punch
  7. ribbon

Materials

  1. Cut out pictures from magazines that begin with each letter of the alphabet. You may need to be creative (for example, for "X" show things that end with "X" or are in the shape of an "X").
  2. Look through personal photos or take new photos to include the important people, places, or things in the child's life (such as family members, friends, doctors, houses, pets, favorite stuffed animals, and so on). If making a book for each child, take photos of each child's family members and important items. If it is a class book, take general photos of objects or people.
  3. On each page, front and back, print a letter of the alphabet and glue the pictures and photos that start with that letter on the paper. For the
  4. cover, you can glue a photo of the child/children and write "My (or Our) ABC Book" at the top.
  5. Cover each page with clear contact paper or laminate to make them more durable.
  6. Punch holes in the pages and tie a ribbon through each hole. If preferred, you can have it spiral-bound at a copy center.

Instructions

1. Affix tape to the floor or carpet in large shapes, such as a circle, square,
and triangle.
2. Hold the child or take his hand and walk him around the shapes
chanting:
We are walking, walking, walking.
We are walking around the (square, circle, triangle).
