One way to do the activity
1. Cut out people shapes from paper.
2. Write the title "How Many People Are in Your Family?" across the top of a
piece of poster board and set up vertical columns.
3. Glue two people cutouts in the first column, three in the second column, four
in the next, and so on. Write the corresponding number in the column, too.
4. Go around the circle and ask each child how many people are in her family.
Write the child's name (or attach a piece of paper with the child's name on
it) in the appropriate column. (See illustration on next page.)
5. When you finish, compare the columns. Identify which column has the most
people and which has the least.
Another way to do the activity
1. Set up horizontal rows on poster board, one for each child in the class.
2. Go around the circle and ask each child how many people are in her family.
Attach the appropriate number of people cutouts in each child's row.
3. When you finish, compare the rows. Identify which child has the most people
in her family and which child has the least.
