12 tagboard cow cutouts

crayons or markers

Instructions

1. Show the children a few completed sample
pet dominoes. Explain that they will be
making some dominoes themselves.
2. Set out several tagboard rectangles with
center lines to resemble dominoes.
3. Show the children how to apply the pet
stickers instead of dots on separate ends of
the dominoes. Help those children who
have difficulty with this step.
4. The children can use these dominoes to play the traditional
game or they can invent some games of their own, such as
matching identical pets on the dominoes.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
* Laminate the dominoes for durability.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* Do the children show an increase in their ability to use one-to-one
correspondence in matching identical pets?
* Do the children display an increase in the control of small muscles in their
hands as well as in hand-eye coordination?
* Do the children show improvement in their ability to play cooperatively
with others?
