Match 'Em Up

Materials

pairs of common objects (toothbrushes, balls, brushes, spoons, and so on)

Instructions

1. Make Song Cards for all the simple songs that the children know.
2. For each song, write the name of the song on one side of an index card
and draw a picture or use a photo or sticker that represents the song on
the other side. For example, use a shiny star for "Twinkle, Twinkle Little
Star," a lamb for "Mary Had a Little Lamb," six ducks for "Six Little Ducks,"
and so on.
3. Put all of the cards into a basket or fabric bag.
4. Use the song basket at circle time, transitions, or any time!
5. Let each child take a turn pulling a card from the basket, looking at the
picture, and guessing the song. The group sings the song together and
then the next child takes a turn.
More to do When the children learn a new song, make a new song card.
Transitions: Give each child a card. Tell them that when they hear their
song, it's their turn to wash hands, line up, or whatever activity you need
them to do.
