Instructions

1. Make patterns for a police hat, collar,
and shield badge (see illustration).
Photocopy the illustrations. Trace the hat,
collar, brim of the hat, and badge on
cardboard and cut out to make patterns.
2. Ask the children to trace the hat on blue
paper and cut out.
3. Ask the children to trace the brim of the hat
on black paper and cut out. Help the
children fold up the top 1/2 " of the brim and
glue to the hat.
4. Encourage the children to trace the shield
badge on gold or silver paper, cut out,
and glue in the center of the hat.
5. Ask the children to trace the collar
pattern on paper and cut out.
6. Give each child a 6" paper plate.
Encourage them to decorate a face on
the paper plate by drawing hair,
eyebrows, nose, and mouth. They can
glue on wiggle eyes to complete the
face.
7. Help them glue the hat to the top of the
plate, and the collar to the bottom. Finish
by gluing a craft stick to the collar and
plate.
8. Encourage the children to play with their
police officer stick puppets!
