March 17th is St. Patrick's Day.

Materials

  • paper
  • green paint or green ink pad
  • small box
  • paint
  • chocolate gold coins

What to do

1. Help the children dip the side of one hand into green paint or a green ink pad and make a print on paper.

2. Invite the children to dip their index fingers into the green paint and make five dots above their prints (for toes), to look like miniature footprints. Some children may need you to guide their hands when making the dots.

3. Have them do the same thing with their other hand.

4. When dry, cut them out and tape them to the wall to look like footprints of someone climbing up the wall.

5. Invite the children to decorate a box to make a "leprechaun trap." Place the box near the footprints.

6. Before the children arrive on St. Patrick's Day, place some chocolate gold coins in the box for the children to discover!
