Green construction paper

Scissors

Leaf shape cut out of tag board for kids to trace

Small pompoms

Glue

Hole punch

Markers

Instructions

1. Have the children trace the leaf shapes on green paper and cut them out.

2. Punch three to six holes in the leaf to represent the areas that the caterpillar ate.

3. Glue small pompoms in a row to form a caterpillar on the leaf.

4. With markers, add the antenna.More to doDramatic play: Pretend to be different insects such as worms, caterpillars, spiders, flies, or butterflies.Field trip: Go for a nature walk and collect leaves that have holes in them. Glue the pom-poms tothe real leaves.
