Instructions

1. Most three-year-olds can jump, but not over objects very well. One way to
work on this gross motor skill is by playing green and speckled frogs.
2. Sing the familiar song, "Five Green and Speckled Frogs" (see below) until the
children are very familiar with it.
3. Then place a brown rug or blanket on the floor (this will be "log"). Ask the
children to stand on the rug.
4. Place the hula hoops on the floor at various distances away from the rug, the
closest right up against the rug. Encourage the children to act like frogs and
take turns jumping into the ponds (hula hoops). Each child sees how many
ponds she can jump into.
