Materials:
10 cups (2 1/4 kg) of used coffee grounds (collect and store in a freezer until you have enough)
2 small bowls
1 small pan for water
Spoons and scoops
1 large flat pan
2 cups (500 ml) salt
5 cups (1 1/8 kg) dry oatmeal
2 cups (500 ml) water
Instructions:
1. Place the coffee grounds in the large flat pan on a low table.2. Place the salt, oatmeal and water in separate containers around the coffee grounds.
3. Explore the materials.
4. Ask how they feel. Rough? Gritty? Dry, wet, cold?
5. Add the spoons and scoops and encourage the children to mix the textures however they choose.
