Materials
1. Mount a large branch in a pot using plaster of Paris.
2. Make holiday decorations with the children to hang on the branches.
3. In the fall, cut out paper leaves and sponge paint them; at Christmas, make
ornaments; and at Easter, make paper Easter eggs.
More to do
Books: Read stories to correspond with the season.
Circle Time: During circle time, encourage the children to pretend to be animals
of the season (for example, bunnies at Easter).
Instructions
1. Read Here Are My Hands to the children. Talk with them about other things
their hands can do.
2. Write each child's name on a piece of chart paper. Ask each child to tell the
group one thing his hands can do and write his response next to his name on
the chart.
3. Take pictures of each child doing the activity he said his hands can do.
4. After you get the pictures developed, glue each one to a separate sheet of
paper. Underneath each photo, write what the child said he could do with
his hands.
5. Staple all of the pages together with a sheet of construction paper in front.
Write "Here Are My Hands" on the cover.
6. Read the book with the children, and then place it in the class library so they
can read it when they desire.
