Instructions

1. This is a centering, calming activity, and is especially good for transitions.
2. Ask the children to line up silently according to height, using body language
to communicate.
3. Sometimes vary the sequencing. You may try ordering them from shortest to
tallest or from tallest to shortest.
More to do Math: Cut straws (or yarn) in varying lengths. Encourage the children to
arrange them in sequence, shortest to longest, and glue them to paper.
Music: Provide xylophones and discuss the order of the keys.
Science: Fill glasses with different amounts of water. Supervise the children as
they lightly tap the glass with a spoon and listen to the different tones.
