Activity Quick Finder:

Hanukah Handprint Menorahs

Materials:

Fingerpaint
paper
glitter
real menorah or pictures of one

Instructions:

1. Give each child a piece of paper. Ask them to make two handprints next to
each other, with thumbs touching.
2. When the paint is dry, they can draw a candle on each finger. Tell them to
draw one big candle, larger than the others, where the thumbs meet. This is
called the "shamash" or the helper candle.
3. Let the children add glitter for the flames on the candles.
4. Show the children a real menorah with candles in it. If you don't have one
available, show them pictures of a variety of different types of menorahs.
Explain why there are eight candles and what the shamash is.
