Materials

Variety of apples, such as Granny Smith, Gala, Golden Delicious, and Macintosh knife small bowls pictures of each apple variety small unit blocks

Instructions

1. Cut each apple into bite-size pieces and put them into separate bowls by type.

2. Arrange the bowls in a row on a table.

3. Place a corresponding apple picture next to each bowl.

4. Explain to the children that there are different types of graphs and that they will be making a bar graph.

5. Let them take turns tasting each apple variety. After tasting, ask them to put a unit block on the picture of their favorite apple. The children can stack the blocks on top of each other.

6. When they are finished, they will have a three-dimensional bar graph showing which variety was liked most and which was liked least.
