Instructions

1. Make your own computer-generated graph mat by inserting a table with a word processing program to create the desired number of columns and rows.

2. Print the resulting grid on tagboard turned horizontally with the caption "Graph Mat" underneath.

3. Laminate for durability, and cut out.

4. Put the graph mat in a center with manipulatives such as bear counters, farm animals, or rainforest animals.

5. Teach the children to classify and organize the manipulatives by color, shape, or size. Show them how to place one manipulative on each square of the grid.

6. Count and compare the manipulatives.
