Materials

Large paper shopping bags, one per child

Scissors

Hole punch

Hole reinforcements

Watercolors and brushes

Markers

Tissue paper

Glue

String or yarn cut in 3' (1 m) lengths

Instructions

What to do
1. Open up each bag and cut out the bottom.
2. Punch two holes near the opening 2" to 3" (5 cm to 8 cm) apart and secure the holes with reinforcements.
3. Invite the children to decorate the bag with paint, markers, or pieces of tissue paper.
4. Attach string or yarn through the holes.
5. Bring the kites outside and let the children run, pulling the kites by the string.
