* March is National Nutrition Month.
1. Bring in several varieties of less common fruit, such as a star fruit, prickly
pear, mango, coconut, passion fruit, and lychee.
2. Talk to the children about nutritious foods, especially fruit. Ask them
what kinds of fruit they like to eat, and if they have heard of or tasted any
less common fruit.
3. Show the children the fruit before cutting it up. Cut all the fruit into bitesize
pieces and place each sample on platters or in small cups.
4. Encourage the children to sample all the fruit and tell about their
favorites.
Safety Note: Be aware of any food allergies in the classroom and plan
accordingly.
