Yellow tissue paper cut in 1" (3 cm) squares

Glue

Markers or crayons

Instructions

1. If the children have never seen a forsythia plant, take them on a walk to show them one, or findone in a book to display. Talk about the beautiful yellow flowers that grow on a forsythia plant.

2. Encourage the children to draw lines on the paper, representing the branches of a forsythiaplant.

3. Ask them to scrunch the tissue squares.

4. Have the children glue the tissue pieces along the lines.

5. Once their forsythia is complete, ask the children to draw and color a background.More to doField trip: Go for a walk and find a forsythia or other early signs of spring.Science: Bring in forsythia for the children to see. Ask them to watch for the first signs of spring intheir neighborhood.
