What to do
1. Invite the children to discuss their favorite foods and group them into categories such as fruits,
vegetables, sweets, dairy products, and so on.
2. Suggest to the children that it may be harder to identify a food if we only see part of it. For
example, it might be hard to identify a picture of an apple if all we saw was part of a leaf and a
stem!
3. Have the children pick different foods and privately draw them.
4. Have them fold their papers over so only a small portion of their drawing can be seen.
5. Invite the children to take turns guessing what the hidden food might be. If the children don't
know what category the food is in, tell them.
More to do
Snack: Before serving snack, let the children guess what they are going to have by showing them
one item partially hidden under a napkin.
