What to do
1. Ahead of time, cut out two identical cloud shapes for each child. Older children can cut out
their own clouds.
2. Have the children lay the shapes side by side and spread glue over the top of each one.
3. Show the children how to attach the tinsel along the bottom of one shape; have them leave
space between the icicles, lending the appearance of a rain shower.
4. When the tinsel is in place, have the children press the front and back of their clouds together.
5. Have them spread glue on one side of the cloud and affix filler to it, then turn the cloud over
and repeat the process on the other side.
6. Punch a hole in the top of each cloud and attach a length of thread. Hang the clouds from the
ceiling or in front of the window.
More to do
Outdoors: Bring paint or pastels and paper outside and make a picture of the clouds. Identify
shapes you see in the clouds.
Science: Observe the weather or the forecast over several days and plot the weather on a picture
graph.
