Instructions

1. Purchase vinyl fabric and cut it into individual work mats, approximately 18" x
24" (45 cm x 60 cm).
2. Stack the work mats near the manipulatives.
3. The children will use the work mats to define their space. Encourage the child
to place a work mat on the floor to define his workspace before selecting the
activity he want to do.
4. Ask the children to keep all of the pieces of their activity on the mat to prevent
them from being stepped on or lost.
5. When the child is finished with the activity, he returns the work mat and
manipulatives to their original location.
More to do
Place the mats under children eating while they are to keep juice and crumbs off
the floor.
