Instructions

1. Place a large sombrero in the middle of an open space. Play Mexican music
and encourage the children to dance around the sombrero while waving
colored scarves. Call it the "Mexican hat dance!"
2. Make homemade salsa. Help the children dice onions, cherry tomatoes, and
green peppers. Give the children plastic bowls and help them mix tomato
juice, onions, tomatoes, and peppers. Provide colored nacho chips and have a
Mexican snack!
3. Help the children make small pinatas with balloons and papier mache. Give
each child an inflated balloon. Mix 2 cups flour, 1 cup glue, and 1/2 cup water
in a bowl. Demonstrate how to dip newspaper strips into the mixture and
wrap around the balloon. Layer the strips and let dry. Let the children pop
their balloons by sticking pins into them. Encourage them to paint their
pinatas. When they are dry, fill them with candy and so on.
4. Have a "Mexican Party!" Dance to Mexican music and break open the pinatas.
