Materials

  • construction paper (one color)
  • scissors
  • long strips of construction paper
  • glue

What to do

1. Cut out several animal shapes from one color of construction paper.

2. Place the cutouts on long strips of construction paper to make patterns. Make several patterns of varying difficulty, such as AB-AB-... (horse, cow, horse, cow, ...) and ABA-ABA-...(duck, lamb, duck,...).

3. Encourage the children to copy the patterns and attempt to continue them on their long sheet of paper.
