Instructions
1. Arrange a table in an area with room to let children walk or propel a wheelchair around it.
2. Tape the multicultural construction paper all around the tops of the table and ask the children to stand around the table.
3. Practice marching and walking around the table, with everyone moving in the same direction.
4. Each child rolls up the sleeve of the arm next to the table. The teacher paints that hand, using different colors on different children.
5. Children march and walk around the table with their painted hands held high while the teacher plays music. When the music stops, the children put their handprints on the paper in front of them.
6. Continue until the paper is full of bright, colorful handprints.
7. The teacher may need to repaint hands occasionally.
8. The finished papers make a nice display with the words "De Colores" in the center.More to doLanguage: This activity lends itself to a discussion of differences and similarities among people.
