Materials

Tempera paint (light blue, yellow, purple, and pink)

Cups for the paint

Freshly picked dandelions

Light green construction paper

Instructions

What to do
1. Set one or two dandelions next to each color of paint.
2. Have the children dip the dandelions into the paint.
3. Demonstrate how to gently press a dandelion onto the paper, then lift, leaving a flower imprint.
4. Let the children make their own prints and repeat the process with several colors.
5. When the prints are finished, hang them to dry, then frame.
More to do
More art: Use other natural objects to create prints such as leaves, pieces of bark, or a sprig of
evergreen. Create wrapping paper or greeting cards imprinted with dandelions and other objects.
Bring in cut flowers and hang them upside-down to dry in a warm closet; use the dried flowers
for decorating.
